Mumbai Indians failed to make the grade

Galaxy of stars as in the side with a strong support staff in Mumbai Indians side including Ricky Ponting and others could not change the fortunes of beleaguered Mumbai outfit. Star players from other States are included whereas the latent talent available with the Mumbai is best forgotten. As the side lost momentum from the first game and lost the crucial last game the fate was sealed.  To add to that the minus run rate throughout the 14 match stint all showed up the real weakness in the side.

The two senior bowlers Lasit Malinga was injured and Harbhajan Singh was off colour most of the time. It is time to play with local talent of spinners and top order batsmen. With Kiron Pollard in the side also, the run rate remained abysmally low and on the minus side. Instead of infusing young blood, the team was going back to drawing room with same set of players and that includes Harbhajan Singh. When it really matters he could score a single and skied a catch as a fielding practise.  Hype, hoopla and hysteria is over. In all it was a lesson for MI.
