The world of cricket has lost the original ‘Little Master’ in the death of Hanif Mohammad. Hanif was to Pakistan cricket what Sunil Gavaskar was to Indian cricket. A brilliant copy book batsman who had a rock solid defence and absolutely gracious to watch which got him the nickname of the ‘Little Master’ which later got passed on to our very own Gavaskar as they were so similar in their batting approach apart from being legends of their times.
Unfortunately, Hanif Mohammad did not play many Test matches because of world wars and very few matches were played during those period. Perhaps the greatest cricketer Pakistan has ever produced, he would be remembered in world cricket for the way he played the game and mastered the technique at a time when there was not much coaching or learning from television viewing!
R.I.P Hanif Mohammad! May his soul Rest in Peace.
