Railway safety at risk

Travelling through the cheapest and the most safest mode of Railways is turning into a nightmare nowadays. Frequent railway accidents give passengers sleepless nights and the nightmarish experience is unforgettable in most of the cases. Even the iconic Matheran toy train route is not spared as a coach derails and 2 people were injured in a freak accident. The other passengers had a narrow escape when one of the coaches of the Matheran toy train derailed near Aman Lodge station and caused fear among the people travelling to the hill station.

Railway journey is at risk during the coming rainy season and adequate measures will have to be taken to ensure safety of passengers in all the sectors of Indian Railways and more so in places hit by monsoon rains followed by unprecedented flooding of tracks and the landslide along the Konkan route. It is an eye opener and the Railways should take all measures to minimise accidents by taking all the safety steps at the right time to ensure passenger safety.
