This refers to your report “Raghuram Rajan unfit to be RBI Governor: Subramaniam Swamy”(May 12). Indicating his interest in a second term as RBI Governor, Raghuram Rajan rightly said that he has enjoyed every moment of the job but there is “more to do”, despite calls from some sections of the ruling BJP against any extension for him. Dr Rajan is the best Governor India had. He is the only person who talks sense. Talented personalities like Dr. Rajan would get recognition anywhere and everywhere. He is well qualified in all respect with vast experience in national and international economy. His strong perspective has always been for long time sustainable growth one must appreciate his efforts. He is doing a good job as RBI Governor and his work has been acknowledged by the experts, bankers and industrialists both in India and abroad. He was handpicked by Dr. Manmohan Singh as Chief Economic Advisor which is the only axe to grind for Mr. Swamy. Rajan has brought down the double-digit inflation, made the currency stable and kept the NPAs under check. Such fearless leaders like him are the need of the hour for the nation compared to those who market themselves and achieve no concrete results. We need people like Rajan who can think independently and take decisions and stay firm on them.
