Rookies rake in big bucks

Cash cow called IPL continue to stun with rookies rake in big bucks as in the past. Delhi stuns with Pawan Negi pick and Shane Watson became the most expensive of all the IPL auction with Rs.9.5 crores option. At the time Yuvraj Singh goes for a reduced price of Rs.7 crores from Rs.16 crores bid last year. On a day when the IPL franchise decided to shell out surprisingly high amounts for young Indian players Negi has been outstanding in domestic cricket with both bat and ball and that paid rich dividends. For Shane Watson it was a bonanza.  Ultimately he was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore. This is the first time that Watson has featured in the IPL auction since the inaugural edition in 2008. He is the only player to win the player of the tournament award twice.  A bidding war between the Pune, Bangalore and Mumbai franchises was the key to Watson’s auction price soaring well before his base price. The IPL extravaganza is hotting up with high stakes for players both Indian and foreign players in the 9th edition of the tournament.
