Smriti Irani is the only one leader who has drunk all the poison of prestige and pseudo to fight against Rahul Gandhi. She has confidently declared she is not a political Cinderella who needs to be rescued, kudos to her. There are some moments in one’s career, where silence is golden and where measured responses will make one’s good image built through hard work, still better. Smriti Irani did well as a HRD Minister despite being criticised for her handling the problems in various Universities. HRD is an important portfolio affecting the intellectual class of our society. Therefore the minister in charge has to deal with sensitive issues with care and caution. There were many complex issues handled by Smriti during her tenure which became controversial. Her spell in the HRD Ministry was marked by controversies, with the Minister drawing flak for Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula’s suicide in Hyderabad, the JNU row and allegations over saffronisation of education.

The importance of Textile Ministry has risen recently after massive allocation of resources recently to create hundreds of thousands of jobs in the textile sector. Textiles industry is the second largest employment generator in our country next to Agriculture. If people are saying that moving Smriti to Textiles Ministry is like a demotion then it is unfair and undermines the importance of Textile industry in our country.  Smriti has vowed to strengthen textile and apparel sectors there is no doubt that her efforts will be directed towards skill development and engaging more youngsters.
