With all the hurdles cleared, the work on the Navi Mumbai International Airport is going to start in full swing after the monsoon rains. The Navi Mumbai Airport Project is on the cards for 20 long years and after long deliberations, the clearance was given to such a big project and that in turn helped to increase realty prices in the city. The project of this nature will take 10 years to complete and meticulous planning is required to make the Navi Mumbai Airport of International standards. However, care should be taken while allotting permission to build sky scrappers in and around the airport area. In this regard, NMMC can take the assistance of a committee comprising citizens from Navi Mumbai and experts in this field to work on a planning based on the recommendations by the said committee. It is a dream project and utmost care needs to be taken. Hutment near the airport creates lots of security problems and it is necessary to clear encroachments. The height of the hangers is also a problem as some of them exceed the permissible limit. This affects the movement of a big aircrafts. The exact height will have to be determined and right measures have to be taken to set right the shortcomings observed in other airports.
