With the arrest of three persons, Thane rural police claimed to have cracked a murder case.
Senior Police Inspector Kishore Khairnar said that on April 3, body of a middle-aged man was found on Nandni-Koshim road near the Bombil Pada junction. The body had been dumped into a culvert.
The man, identified as Barku Rama Samosa (40), a resident of Naik Wadi, Valiv, had been strangulated.
Police found out that he had had a dispute with Umesh Damaji Gangan (34) of Vasai. Gangan had built chawls on the land belonging to Samosa’s father-in-law.
The dispute was related to the chawls, police said.
According to police, Gangan and other accused invited him to visit a land and murdered him at an isolated place.
The other two accused were identified as SurajShamraoJadhav (23) and RafiqueSayya Patel (26).
