Tuli Builders dupes customers by failing to hand over the possession of flats.
More than hundred people have registered complaint againstArunTuli Builders at Chembur police station for duping them by promising to hand over the possession of the flat in an under construction project at Parelwadi, Chembur Naka. According to victims, the builder is yet to hand over the possession of the flat after accepting the booking amount.
Tuli Builders had informed one of the complainant that he will be undertaking a project under the slum rehabilitation scheme. The government authorities had allowed him to construct another building in the area and sell the flats at market rates. He took money from the victims after promising them flats in 2007-2008.
HemantJadhav, one of the patron who invested his hard earned money for purchasing the flat said, “I have invested 3,50,000 for purchasing the flat.Tuli Builders had asked me to pay 50 percent money as the booking amount and pay the remaining amount after taking possession of the flat.He offered me receipt and other important documents related to the flat.Even though five years have passed but he is yet to hand over the possession of the flat to me.”
After accepting the money, Tuli kept delaying the construction of the building and later started avoiding the customers.
“Last month when the builder assured me that he will hand over the possession of the flat. His advocate promised me that money will be refunded to us. But I don’t want money. I have invested money with an aim to own a flat” HemantJadhav further added.
Complainants asked Tuli builder to refund their money but he kept avoiding them.
Another victim JitendraDaryani who invested money for purchasing the flat said, “I have invested 14,00,000 rupees for purchasing the flat, but I am yet to receive its possession. Builder had promised to deliver the possession of the flat to me while accepting the payment.However, he has failed to honour his promises. I am worried whether I will receive a refund of the money or obtain possession of the flat?
A customer who spoke to AV on the condition of anonymity said, “I have invested my entire life’s saving for purchasing the flat but I am yet to receive the possession of the flat. Like me there are many others who invested their life time savings for purchasing the flat.The builder is yet to deliver the promises made by him at the time of booking the flat.”
According to the sources, the builder is undergoing financial problems hence there has been a delay in the construction of the flat. Builder has promised the investors that he will refund the money on 26th May.
A police official from Chembur police station said, “We have already received a complaint filed against Tuli Builders. We will investigate the case and will act.”
