With less importance to fast bowling and avoid green top wickets at home, we play World Cup matches and get exposed at the final level. After being put into bat our batsmen played school boy cricket and were novice against genuine fast bowlers on a bouncy track. Fresh wicket and the new ball all gave the team jitters and wickets fell at regular intervals and we could not recover from the shock. West Indies side played to a plan and worked hard to achieve the low total with a positive approach. Having lost only five wickets and building a partnership of over 50 for the 6th wicket during slog overs the writing was on the wall. Media was ready to celebrate the win but alas we failed to pass the final test. West Indies side’s winnings ways proved a big boost for the Caribbeans Islands as this title is the first one in Under 19 level and promise a better future for their sagging spirit at the International level.
