Dinesh Karthik became a former Mumbai Indians player on Wednesday when Delhi bought him for a whopping Rs. 12.5 crore on day one of the 2014 IPL Players Auction in Bengaluru.
Karthik came up for bidding in the second set of marquee players, after Yuvraj Singh became the most expensive player of the season – sold for Rs. 14 crore to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The capped wicketkeeper-batsman performed decently for Mumbai last season when they won their maiden IPL trophy, but the Reliance-owned franchise chose not to use their ‘Right to Match’.
