The Nallasopara police have arrested a gang of habitual chain snatcher who were known for committing several crimes in the suburb. The arrested accused has been identified as Munna Hakim Sheikh and Kamal Hasan Hussain.
The accused used to snatch chains of pedestrians while riding a bike. After receiving several complaints pertaining to chain snatching the Nallasopara police had formed a team and started patrolling to trap the gang of chain snatchers, said a police official from Nallasopara Police station.
Ravindra Badgujar, Senior Police Inspector of Nallasopara Police Station said, “We formed a squad of police officials and began patrolling the area. We the arrested the accused by examining the CCTV footage. They were involved in several cases of chain snatching. We are interrogating in order to ascertain how many crimes they have committed in the past.”
Police have recovered jewellery along with cash of Rs 3,95,720 and one Yamaha motor cycle which was used by the accused for committing crime. Police have registered a case against the accused under section 34 of the IPC (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 392 (Punishment for robbery).
