High tide causes water-logging in parts of Mumbai

With just days left for the monsoon to hit the western metropolis, high tidal waves have led to water-logging in low lying areas of Mumbai on Thursday.

Roads near Gateway of India and some areas in Mahim, Worli sea face and some parts of Dadar were flooded when hide tide measuring 4.56 meters hit the shores at 11:30 am today.

The high tide would get bigger tomorrow at 4.79 meters.

However, Mumbaikars will have to wait for monsoon rains for some days – it should have reached on June 10. It has reached Ratnagiri and will take a couple of more days to travel to Mumbai.

Under influence of the severe cyclonic storm ‘Nanauk’ over Arabian Sea, the south west monsoon will progress along the west coast of Maharashtra and Gujarat during next 48 hours.

The IMD has predicated below normal monsoon this year.
