With most of the boards declaring the results for grade 10th and 12th exams, the parents, teachers, and counselors have been struggling to calm down the anxious teenagers. According to the mental health study, there is an increase in the stress level among students by 20 per cent.
We need to look at this problem from three perspectives. What is the reason for this menace? How does it affect our children? And what can we do to protect our children from this situation?
Reasons are many such as excessive workload, poor time-management, poor stress-management, lack of proper planning, peer-pressure, impractical goals set for themselves, cut- throat competition but the major reason is obviously over-expectation of the parents from their wards in terms of academic excellence. ‘Marks, more marks, better scores are the clichéd words used by parents that most of the children grow up hearing. Poor academic performance doesn’t imply that a child would never taste success in his life. There are innumerous examples of people across the world who couldn’t fare well in school and college exams, but turned out to be very successful as professionals.
Identifying that your child is stressed out due to your demands or expectations is the first step towards helping your children.
Trying to figure out the reasons for it would serve as the second step.
Changing your attitude from ‘marks to no marks’ would be the third step.
Supporting your child emotionally and practically would actually solve the problem.
As parents and teachers, we want our kids to lead a happy life. That is our ultimate goal but excessive stress causes anxiety in the students that finally results in physical, mental, and emotional health issues.
Is this what we want for our kids?
If not, change your mindset before it’s too late to reach out to them.
Shift your thought process from ‘MARKS to NO Marks’. It doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t score well. It simply means that neither should a child be forced to perform against his capability nor should he be reprimanded for his poor academic performance if he has put in efforts. Students can just put in efforts. They can’t control the results.
Being sensitive towards them would help us build a happy society with happy families.

A fresh bill to ban Triple Talaq was tabled in parliament. Congress and other opposition parties have opposed the bill. The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage Bill) 2019 was listed in Lok Sabha’s agenda on Friday. Speaker Om Birla called for a voice vote and ruled that Bill could be introduced in Lok Sabha. The Bill was finally presented in the lower house with 186 votes in favour and 78 against introduction of legislation.
Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad stated, “We are legislators and it is our duty to frame laws. It’s the court’s duty to interpret the law. Parliament should not be converted into court. “
Earlier All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi stated,”This bill is against the interest of women. If BJP is working for the welfare of women then why they are against them in Sabarimala? What type of agenda are you following? This bill is against the constitution.”
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor stated that this bill won’t change women’s lives. JD (U) secretary general and spokesperson KC Tyagi said, “The NDA didn’t have any discussion pertaining to triple talaq. Since it is a sensitive issue the government should arrive at a consensus with all parties. The JD (U) opposes the bill in its current form.”
India and foreign countries are celebrating International Yoga Day today. On this occasion, the common man, politicians and celebrities in Maharashtra performed yoga exercise. While some people did yoga in local trains some others performed yoga in swimming pools.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis participated in an event guided by Baba Ramdev in Nanded and Governor Ch Vidyasagar performed yoga at Raj Bhavan. Even Bollywood observed Yoga Day. Actor Shilpa Shetty and Malaika Arora posted photographs of them performing yoga and appealed to citizens to perform yoga.
Shilpa had earlier stated, “Yoga has changed my life. My relation with yoga is on a whole different level. It’s very spiritual.” Mumbaikars gathered in large numbers at Marine Drive to perform yoga asanas. More than three lakh people have supported “Yoga by the bay Campaign” for years.
PM Narendra Modi’s clarion call for marking one day as ‘International Day of Yoga’ has received overwhelming response all over the world. In a first, a total of 177 nations across the world came together and passed the resolution to declare June 21 as the ‘International Day of Yoga at the UN’. The declaration of International Day of Yoga is the great moment for India in history. Modi, an ascetic who is a committed vegetarian and an enthusiastic yoga practitioner himself, suggested an international yoga day. The first International Day of Yoga was observed all over the world on June 21, 2015. On this day, more than 30,000 people, including PM Modi, perform yoga asanas at Rajpath in New Delhi.
As regards fear of failure and stress management, he knows it very well how to control the fear of failure and manage stress. The present government is the most democratic inside the house where leaders from particular authority get involved in numerous project discussion before its implementation. He encourages Yoga and meditation which helps the human brain to counter fear and stress. Yoga is said to come from Hinduism long back and is being practiced worldwide today. People have learned about the merits of Yoga and have accepted it in the form of exercise and meditation. PM Modi said that Yoga can provide health benefits free of cost, and added that several countries that were unaware of India’s culture are now connected to it because of yoga.
PM Modi has put his views for adopting a day especially for yoga while addressing the United Nations General Assembly. He has asked the world leaders for adopting international yoga day to deal with declining health because of negative climate changes. Especially, he suggested June 21 for adopting the international day of yoga as this day is the longest day in northern hemisphere regions as well as of great significance in many parts of the world.
Modi has said that “One does not need to perform yoga for 24 hours, only 50 or 60 minutes. Yoga has the power to give health assurance at zero cost. When people perform yoga for the first time, they feel that several organs that were lying asleep start waking up.” He further added that there was once a time when yoga was practised only by sages and monks, but it has now become a part of daily life. “Today, there is no question mark over yoga in any part of the world.
Changes occurred with time; different societies in the world made additions to yoga and led to its improvement as per place, time, situation and age.” There are many countries which do not know our language, traditions or culture, but the entire world is getting connected with us because of yoga.
Recalling how the United Nations gave its nod for International Day of Yoga, Modi said there might not be a single country where yoga-related programmes are not held. “Today, in many states of the country, yoga has been adopted as part of their education so that future generations get apprised of this science of ours to help it become a part of their lives.”
According to Modi, “Yoga is one of the most precious gifts given by the ancient Indian sages to humankind” and he said that Yoga is the journey from ‘me’ to ‘we’. Yoga keeps both your body and minds healthy. It strengthens your body and keeps your mind at peace.
Sure, yoga is a fabulous workout for the mind and body and I know it can help sculpt and stretch your muscles. Yoga is a way of life or Art of living through the mental, spiritual and physical path. It also helps in learning how to rise above the pull of mind, emotions and lower bodily needs and face challenges of day to day life. Yoga works on the level of one’s body, mind, and energy.
Yoga is a known stress buster, but it’s also one of the most effective workouts for fighting stubborn fat stores, especially the ones that crop up after age 40. Yoga has created miracles. Health is wealth and it ensures a vigorous and blissful life. Every kind of efficiency and success in life rests on a healthy body. Lastly, in the words of Modi, “Yoga is India’s gift to the world for health, wellness, and peace. It connects us with wellness and happiness.”

We can say that we are living in a Kaliyug as we witness untoward incidents taking place in every strata of society. The youngsters must feel their responsibilities and utilise their spare time in useful ways. Further, they should be able to appease God and take His guidance for their well being rather than following a wrong path. However, it is generally found that the teenagers are crossing the limits and in lust for love, they even rape their colleagues or in a fit of anger, they go to the extent of murdering or just throw acid to deface their sweetheart on vengeance.
Just like in the USA, the students are going to the extent of stabbing their friends for ransom or for old enmity or just to establish their supremacy in an authoritative manner. As a parent, one should develop their children with a good mind, a stable body language, and the will to help friends. For this to happen, parents must make an effort to guide the young to have faith in God and the Social values from a young age.
Children on their part should not fall in the trap of bad elements and thereby losing their identity instead of developing a healthy relationship to overcome the evil mind present to put up exemplary behaviour. To balance life from all these obstacles, Yoga can provide a meaningful life and make sure of resilience in their student life full of pressure. Body and mind should bond together to lead a successful life and become a responsible citizen of India.
The atmosphere is hot and humid and the people likely to get all types of ailments during this season. To add to that, the hectic and stress-filled life makes you vulnerable to get life-threatening ones such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and sleep disorders. It is time to drink more water during this season. An early morning walk will give you fresh breeze and a new lease of life to undertake the tensions of that particular day. Half an hour of brisk walking followed by 15 minutes of Yoga keep you fit all the time and give you the energy needed to undergo work pressure and the travel pressure for the day.
How often we see people who have a tough time trying to reach their toes. Every day, we notice at least one ‘all-rounder’ who huffs and puffs to climb that one floor to their home or that one flight of stairs to the platform. However, that is not seen as a sign of being unhealthy — the painting is attributed to stress, those few extra pounds are characterised as a ‘sign of the wealthy’. So, it is time to work hard on your regular exercises and have control over eating. Avoid junk food and consume a lot of intake of milk to keep fit all the time and avoid unnecessary stress to fall victims of the four life-threatening diseases. It is time to fight fit as life is precious and it is the survival of the fittest.
Many studies have tried to determine the effectiveness of Yoga as a complementary intervention for cancer, schizophrenia, asthma, and heart disease. The results of these studies have been mixed and inconclusive, with cancer studies suggesting none to unclear effectiveness, and others suggesting yoga may reduce risk factors and aid in a patients psychological healing process.
Yoga has special importance in controlling high blood pressure and regular practice of Yoga is very beneficial. Light relaxing exercises are also beneficial in case of this problem. Deep breathing and Kumbhak should be avoided and postures like Sukhasana, Vajrasana should be used for practicing breathing exercises. Practice Shavasana in case of weariness. Chandrabhedi Pranayam is beneficial in reducing high blood pressure and other old age problems. Katichakrasana, Tadasana, Bhujangasana, Shalabhasana, Dhanurasana, Pavan Muktasana, and Shavasana are very beneficial in case of a normal blood pressure level. Body purification processes and Jala Neti are very beneficial. Regular practice of Yoga Nidra is helpful in controlling the increased blood pressure levels. Regular practice of meditation reduces the risk of high blood pressure.
Laughter Yoga is like an aerobic exercise (cardio workout) which brings more oxygen to the body and brain which makes one feel more healthy and energetic. Laughter Yoga strengthens the immune system which not only prevents you from falling sick but also helps to heal a variety of illnesses like hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, depression, arthritis, allergies, asthma, bronchitis, backache, fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, menstrual disorders, cancer, and many others.
Yoga is having a special role to play in health matters and if we practice the art of yoga on a regular basis we can feel fit and fettle all the time.

Last week, some attendants and relatives of a patient in Kolkata badly assaulted a doctor. The incident created an explosive situation in medical profession effective services in hospitals across the country. The doctors went on strike in protest all over the country leading to sufferings of hundreds of thousands of patients as Out Patient Departments were shut in hospitals. They were demanding adequate security and protection in hospitals.
On the other hand, patients and their relatives say that the only objective of doctors these days is to make money by all means. They are bent upon ‘looting’ patients. They (doctors) prescribe one test after another even in the case when tests are not required for treatment. Once tests are over, the patients are advised to go for surgery. It is common knowledge that the main income of private hospitals comes from various expensive medical tests and surgery. How doctors will realise the amount of money spent on medical education in private medical colleges running into crore of rupees if they charge a nominal fee and prescribe medicines that are necessary for treatment. In this given situation of allegations and counter allegations, it is the medical profession which is getting tainted.
Here it must be said that even patients and their relatives will have to show calm and composer. They just can’t indulge in assault and violence with the doctors. There are reports from various parts of the country that attendants of patients beat up doctors alleging that doctor on duty was not giving proper attention to the patient or doctor on duty was indifferent to the urgency of treatment. How relatives of patient can find out if proper treatment is not being given to the patient by the doctor on duty?
Now, let us consider the anguish of attendant of the patient. This is a fact that attendants of patients in serious condition are normally in a state of mental stress. The relatives of patients too should show patience. In no condition, they can be allowed to blacken the face of a doctor or break his skull. They don’t have any right to take the law into their hands. The campaign against corrupt doctors gets weakened by such conduct of relatives of patients. As a matter of fact, the need is to generate a sweet relationship between doctors, patients, and patients’ relatives. However, the initiative has to come from doctors. A patient is like a customer and a customer is no less than God. So far doctors are concerned for a patient-doctor is no less than a God. The need of the hour is to adopt a more humble and courteous behaviour in hospitals by all stakeholders.
In the meantime, it is wrong to say that all doctors are bad and all doctors are running after money. There are a good number of doctors who are doing their job with sincerity and commitment to the medical service. They are on duty from morning till late in the evening. However, a few doctors are not doing their job honestly and with transparency. Such doctors are not doing justice to the medical profession.
In India, people associated with the medical profession are not doing any major research in the field of treatment and remedy to disease. This is a fact that one should admit. However, allegations are rampant against doctors for taking cut from pharmaceutical companies and making money by dubious means. Are these allegations wrong? How one shall expect patients and their relatives to hold such class of doctors in good esteem.
Deaths in Bihar
Death of more than 125 children due to ‘Encephalitis’ in Bihar is a serious matter and it is a shame for the medical profession in India that there is no preventive medicine or vaccine to save the lives of the children! Why it is that we are not able to defeat this deadly disease of AES (Acute Encephalitis Syndrome). In Muzaffarpur, this is a recurring cycle of AES every year during this season for the last 20 years. It vanishes once monsoon rains arrive. Last year many children had died in Gorakhpur due to Encephalitis.
Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, who visited Muzaffarpur, has assured the nation that research will be undertaken to find the cause and cure of the AES. There has been researching on AES but no positive result came out in the past.
In Bihar, 125 people died due to heat stroke in Aurangabad, Gaya and in some other parts of the state. This was revealed by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
In such a situation, it is the duty of doctors to expose ‘black ships’ in the medical profession in the country. The Indian Medical Association should also tighten screws to tame doctors who are found indulging in corrupt and unethical practices.
What is happening in India today is going to affect the ‘medical tourism’. Many people from abroad come to India for medical treatment because of good medical service which is available at a cheaper cost in India compared to other countries.
Countries such as Singapore, Thailand, China, and Japan are engaged in attracting people for ‘medical tourism’. Medical tourism fetches millions of dollars in India.
Every year lakhs of people from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Iran, the Arab world and from African countries come here for treatment. In 2017 from Afghanistan alone 55,618 people came for medical treatment.
This is the time to improve medical service in India.

Tanushree Dutta filed the complaint against Nana Patekar in October 2018 in which she accused him of harassing and misbehaving with her while shooting a song on the sets of the film “Horn Ok Please“. She also alleged that during the shooting of the song sequence, Patekar inappropriately touched her even after she clearly mentioned that she would not perform lewd, vulgar or uncomfortable steps. Patekar has denied all the allegations. Now that Tanushree’s claims have gone false and the cops move to close harassment case against Nana Patekar. It is true that the law is blind and Tanushree is not surprised with the closure of the case by cops.

Readymade bridges needs constant maintenance
Readymade bridges of pre-fabricated slabs may be a short sighted idea for immediate relief for the ongoing traffic crisis due to closure of 20 overhead bridges but such arrangements is not a long term solution. The lifespan of such bridges is short and they cannot withstand heavy loads and Mumbai we all know is a crowded city. They also need constant maintenance and our civic department we all know is inefficient.
Overhead bridges can be constructed in days if engineering giants like L&T or other major players are given the job. Any solution to a problem should be long term and good infrastructure should be the State government’s priority. Work orders for urgent infrastructure should be passed immediately so that citizens do not suffer for months as this also involves their safety as well.

Auto fare hike in Delhi
Delhi government has now revised auto-fares in Delhi but in unsystematic manner of Rs 9.50 per kilometre after Rs 25 for first 1.5 kilometre. But such irrational tariff will cause trouble due to shortage of coins in circulation. Upward revision should be rational and such whereby auto-drivers may not refuse going by meter. The right step would be to have Rs 30 for first two kilometres and thereafter one rupee for every one-tenth of kilometre.
However, increase in auto-fares should coincide with altogether removal of capping on number of auto-rickshaws in Delhi if necessary by approaching Court in this regard. A pre-condition could be imposed for increasing auto-fares because auto-drivers feel agitated on increasing number of auto-rickshaws. Such simultaneous steps of fare-increase and removal of capping on number of auto-rickshaws will induce more adequate number of auto-rickshaws in the city which will make auto-drivers moving according to fare-meter that too for any desired destination. Moreover, all auto-rickshaws registered in Delhi should be given license to travel in complete National Capital Region (NCR) without requiring any special permit in this regard. The biggest advantage will be that at least middle-income group will then avoid use and purchase of cars easing road-traffic

The relevancy of Yoga Day has increased in the last few years, which can be attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Due to taking the initiative from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “International Yoga Day” is being celebrated. Now, this is celebrated on June 21 every year. June 21 is the longest day of the year and yoga is also important for longevity. This similarity between Yoga and June 21 is amazing. First of all, “Yoga Day” was celebrated in 2015. Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on 27 September 2014, advised celebrating Yoga Day while addressing the United Nations General Assembly. Later, on December 11, 2014, 193 members of the United Nations approved the proposal to celebrate “International Yoga Day” on June 21.
Even though “International Yoga Day” was started on June 21, 2015, but its history in India is more than 10,000 years old. Yoga is also mentioned in the Rig Veda. In the seal of Pashupati (coin) of the time of Indus Valley Civilisation, the shape of Yoga has been found in the shape. There is also mention of physical exercises in Upanishad. The present form of Yoga has also found in Katha Upanishad. There is a detailed mention of Yoga in Bhagavad Gita as well as in the Mahabharata’s Shantiparva.
Maharishi Patanjali is regarded as the father of Yoga. Maharishi Patanjali has considered Yogadarshan as the basis of the Indian culture. “Yoga Sutra” written by him is considered to be the essence of Yoga. In these sources, the origin and purpose of Yoga are inherent. Yoga is divided into three parts — first, Gyan Yoga or philosophy, second, the path of devotion, and the third, Karma Yoga or Sukhmaya Karma path.
The word Yoga has originated from Sanskrit Dhaatu ‘Yuj’, which means union of the soul in the divine. By the way, it is a substitute for physical exercise; but in reality, it is a sign of emotional and spiritual consolidation as well as exercise.
Yoga is an ancient Indian way of life, with the help of which the work of bringing the body, mind, and soul together is done. It is also helpful in keeping body and mind healthy completely. Not only diseases can be overcome by Yoga but also physical and mental disorders can be cured. Yoga creates new energy in life by strengthening the immunity of the body. It is also a means of keeping abstinence over thoughts. Also, the asanas of Yoga keep both the body and mind active.
Bihar Yoga University is well-equipped with a large library located in Bihar’s Munger district. This university was established in the year 1964 by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, whose purpose was to spread the ancient wisdom all over the world. This is the only Yoga University to provide yoga training, with more than 200 international and hundreds of national Yoga and spiritual centers connected. This university has been given honorary university status. At present, this university conducts yoga courses in Gurukul style. Today, one and two-year courses based on Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Psychology, Practical Yoga, and Environment Yoga are extremely popular. Students from all corners of the world come here to study and they return to their country and conduct Yoga centers.
Ever since “International Yoga Day” has started to celebrate, its popularity has been increasing rapidly since then. One important reason for this is the benefits of this. In today’s world, human beings suffer from selfishness, anger, jealousy, hatred, etc., but they can be overcome with the help of yoga. Regular posture and pranayama in life makes the body and mind healthy. Today, children, young and old people are benefiting from yoga.
It can be said that the way people are benefiting from it, it seems that the colour of its popularity will soon be expanded around the world. However, someone is doing politics in the name of Yoga in India. They are adding it to Surya Namaskar, but such allegations are unfounded. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the initiative in making this day as “Yoga Day” and his efforts became successful also. In true words, this day is only related to human welfare.

Under the Fugitive Economic Offender Act, if an economic offender flees the country to avoid the due process, he/she can be declared a fugitive economic offender and their properties can be confiscated. Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya have been declared as economic offenders. Their property, including art collections and cars, were auctioned off to recover part of their debt.
To overcome the drawbacks in GST implementation, the Central Government has taken up corrective measures to bring the scheme back to rails. The GST Council, formed with the states having a two-third vote and the Centre a one-third vote, is a rare example of cooperative federalism. Where the government faltered was its implementation. It has since realised that it made the system exceptionally complicated, with five tax slabs and a complex filing process, all of which alienated small traders and businessmen, especially coming close on the heels of demonetisation.
In the Indian context, liberalisation of the economy was initiated on the premise that the seemingly socialist and centrally planned economy had outlived its utility and that private ownership and market forces would efficiently replace public sector undertakings and provisions. Such an opening up of the economy was also tried in other parts of the world with only one consequence — unprecedented concentration of wealth in the hands of a few and a marked shift in the actual centres of power. Crony capitalism was soon making fast inroads into the policy-making coteries of India, and this new-found confidence of the private sector bore fruits.
The tying of national interest to global capital has not only produced adverse and livelihood-threatening consequences for the masses of the country, but it has also deprived India of the higher moral pedestal in foreign policy. Deep-rooted socialism is the only true alternative to this ‘post-truth’ world where rhetoric has dislodged real issues. It is exactly such a backdrop that allowed the Narendra Modi regime to push through demonetisation of high-value currency notes. Even though its economic logic was suspect, it was a political success as most believed that it was restoring the premium on honesty by targeting the corrupt.
While the principal focus is on the present context of India under a liberal economic policy regime, both the past of Indian capitalism and the past discussion on the concentration of economic power are also brought into the picture to substantiate the key arguments. The paper provides theoretical and also some limited empirical substantiation for the proposition that unlike what would be the prediction of crony capitalism theory, liberalisation, rather than reducing the degree of subordination of public authority to private capital, has only facilitated an enhanced degree of state capture. We are trying our best to curb the nexus of crony capitalism in India and the success is just forthcoming even though it is somewhat slow. Curtailing the effects of crony capitalism will lead to economic growth in the coming years.
