Budget carrier SpiceJet, which triggered a low-fare war in the market early this year, came out with another promotional all-inclusive ticket offer on Tuesday starting from Rs 2,999 for a one-way journey on domestic routes, primarily from Tier-II cities.

The three-day offer, for which bookings started on Tuesday, is valid for travel between July 6 and March 28 next year and will be applicable for all via and onward connection flights, SpiceJet said in a release in New Delhi. The scheme aims at stimulating traffic from the Tier-II cities, the private airline said.

“We, at SpiceJet, are focused in our effort to stimulate travel and with this campaign we hope our customers in second tier cities will benefit from the super low fare,” spiceJet Chief Commercial Officer Kaneswaran Avili said. While all previous and other airlines only focuses on point to point travel, we at SpiceJet do not wish to exclude our second-tier customers who do not have direct connectivity to other second tier cities, he said.

The Kalanithi Maran-promoted carrier has been on a promotional and discounted fare spree since January this year, when it reduced ticket prices by up to 50 per cent immediately after the lean travel season set in. Last week, IndiGo, too, had announced promotional fares for just Re 1 on Bangalore, Chennai and Goa routes, taking on the competition thrown by AirAsia India’s offer of Rs 5 fare (excluding airport tax and other applicable fees) offer and putting on sale over 15,000 promotional seats with immediate bookings.
