Reiterating that it was political vendetta as far as National Herald case was concerned; Congress vice president said on Wednesday that it was BJP’s way of doing politics.
“100 per cent political vendetta coming out of PMO. This is their way of doing politics,” Rahul said while coming out of Parliament.
Asked about Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu’s charge that Congress was using Parliament to threaten judiciary (by disruption), he said, “It is the other way round. Who is threatening judiciary. We all know.”
However, he added, “I have full faith in judiciary. Truth will come out.”
In Chennai, as the National Herald case involving Congress’ top brass snowballed, a defiant Rahul Gandhi had charged the BJP with adopting “vendetta politics” and vowed to continue questioning the Narendra Modi government and not “budge an inch.”
“Let them do what they want. They can do whatever they want to. I am not going to budge one inch. The same questions I am asking the Prime Minister (Modi) or the government, I am going to continue asking them,” Rahul had told.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others were directed to appear in person on December 19 by a Delhi court which allowed their plea seeking exemption from personal appearance for the day in the National Herald case.
Senior advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Harin Raval and Ramesh Gupta appeared for the Gandhis and other accused and moved separate pleas seeking exemption from personal apperance for their clients for today only.
“We are very keen to come before the court,” Singhvi told Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen, adding, “Please give us a date of your choice and that of the convenience of Dr. Subramanian Swamy.”
Swamy, who has filed the case, however, told the court that there are seven accused in the case and today’s date was fixed in September itself.
The magistrate, however, told the defence counsel to ensure that all the accused appear before the court on the next date of hearing on December 19.
