PM-and-NitishTearing into the ruling Nitish Kumar- Lalu Prasad alliance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asked the people of Bihar to use the upcoming assembly polls as an opportunity to “free themselves from the jungle raaj” by electing a BJP-led government to and develop and modernise the state.

“You have suffered their arrogance, deceipt and exploitation for the last 25 years. Do you want such a rule to continue for another five years,” the Prime Minister asked at a mass rally here.

“These elections are an opportunity for you to free yourselves from the jungle raaj. … You have so far seen jungle raaj … If you allow jungle raaj part two, it will only spell further disaster for the state,” Modi said.

Taking a jibe at RJD supremo Lalu Prasad over his conviction in the fodder scam, he said “those who go to jail, come out learning bad things.”

He said while the RJD stands for ‘rozana jungle raaj ka dar’ (daily fear of jungle raaj), the JD(U) stood for ‘janata ka daman-utpidan’ (suppression and oppression of the people).

The Prime Minister also attacked the JD(U)-RJD combine over the recent murder of a BJP activist in Patna, saying “this is the beginning of jungle raaj part two. Do you want this to come back?”

“The Prime Minister first pointed fingers at Bihar’s DNA, now he called the state sick,” Mr. Kumar said. ‘I had requested him to take back his words.  But he did nothing of the sort…  I think he has forgotten that Bihar is not called Bimaru anymore.”

Reacting to PM Modi’s dig that Mr. Kumar’s party, the JD(U) stood for  “Janata-ka Daman or Utpiran (subjugation and torture of people), Mr. Kumar said in that context, “India still remembers Mr. Vajpayee’s advice to you to fulfil your Rajdharma (the ruler’s duty) in 2002 (during the Gujarat riots).”Kumar on Sunday took on PM Modi from the front as the latter visited the state for a political rally. The rally was organised at Gaya, the land of Buddha.

Just ahead of the rally, the Bihar CM had dared PM Modi of promising to people that his party would not give poll tickets to criminals.
