Possibly Kapil Sharma, the comedian may be wrong in saying that BMC officials had demanded Rs. 5 lakhs as bribe. But in fact as on today, it is even common man’s bitter experience that no work is done by the civic body without accepting bribe. If this is not so why one crore Mumbaikars have to face big potholes on all the roads, streets, lanes etc. all over Mumbai since the past more than 15 years? I don’t think under such unstopped corrupt conditions Mumbai can ever become another ‘Shanghai or Singapore,’ forget Surat. Finally, illegal hawkers have occupied S.V. Road in Borivali for so many years. The old, big trees have also been cut down on this road in the name of ‘widening’ the road. Shockingly, the pedestrians have no footpath for walking. Why? And all the hawkers may not be the ‘patriotic Indians.’ Among these illegal hawkers, I strongly doubt presence of secret agents of Pakistan sponsored terrorists. Such anti-India ‘hawkers’ might be running their business in the western, eastern and central suburbs of Mumbai. The government has to take immediate steps in this matter in the interest of securing India’s financial capital.
