Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday announced that a consensus has been reached on seat sharing between all three parties Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress for the upcoming state Assembly polls.

Addressing a joint press conference along with RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Congress leader CP Thakur, JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar said his party and RJD will contest on 100 seats each and Congress will compete on 40 seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls.

Bihar Assembly comprises of 243 seats.

On his turn Lalu said ‘Swabhimaan rally’ will be held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on 30th August.

Expressing confidence over the ‘maha gathbandhan’ (grand alliance), the RJD chief said the BJP will suffer a crushing defeat in the 2015 Bihar polls.

Congress leader CP Thakur also addressed the media saying that the ‘Swabhimaan rally’ will be attended by the leaders of all three parties. He further announced that the Congress leadership will also mark its presence at the Gandhi Maidan on the scheduled date.

Prime Minister Modi, while attacking Nitish Kumar at a rally in Muzaffarpur on July 25, had said that it seemed that there was “some problem with Nitish Kumar`s DNA”, referring to his constant change of political allegiance.

Nitish later described the DNA remark as an “insult” to people of Bihar.
